Welcome to US Coins Guide. We encourage discussion, questions, shared finds, and constructive debate about coins, collecting, minting varieties, and numismatics.

To keep discussions accurate, helpful, and enjoyable for collectors of all experience levels, all comments posted across our site and Disqus network are subject to the following rules.

1. Coin Appraisals & Valuations

  • Informational Purposes Only: Values, grades, and opinions shared in our articles or in the comment section are for educational and hobbyist purposes. They do not constitute official, professional, or certified numismatic appraisals.
  • Asking About Your Coins: When asking about a specific coin, provide clear details (year, mint mark, strike type, and specific condition details). Please note that we cannot definitively grade or authenticate coins sight-unseen in a comment thread.

2. Buying, Selling, and Solicitations

  • No Trading or Selling: US Coins Guide is an informational resource, not a marketplace. Do not post listings offering coins for sale, soliciting offers, or arranging personal financial transactions in the comment threads.
  • No Unauthorized Commercial Links: Links to personal auctions, external storefronts, classified ads, or affiliate offers will be removed as spam.

3. Civility and Constructive Tone

  • Respect Fellow Collectors: Numismatics welcomes everyone from complete beginners discovering their first rare pocket change to seasoned experts. Condescending remarks, gatekeeping, personal attacks, insults, or harassment will not be tolerated.
  • Keep Discussions Relevant: Comments should directly relate to the article’s topic, specific coin series, or numismatic history discussed on that page. Off-topic rants, political discourse, and unsubstantiated conspiracy theories will be deleted.

4. Prohibited Content

Any comment containing the following will be removed immediately and may result in a permanent ban:

  • Hate speech, defamation, harassment, threats, or vulgarity.
  • Automated spam, promotional campaigns, or repetitive copy-paste messages.
  • Doxxing or posting personal identifiable information (full names, home addresses, phone numbers, or private emails).
  • Material that infringes on third-party copyrights or intellectual property.

5. Moderation and Community Management

  • Review Process: Comments are monitored and moderated via Disqus. Comments containing external links or triggering automated spam filters may be held in a moderation queue for manual review before appearing live.
  • Editorial Discretion: We reserve the right to edit, delete, or hide any comment, or ban any user or IP address, at our discretion and without prior notice, to preserve site integrity.
  • Public Domain: By submitting a comment, you grant US Coins Guide the non-exclusive, royalty-free right to publish, display, and archive your contribution as part of the article’s public discussion thread.
